Last Saturday was my birthday and I’ve been wanting to share all the fun details with you. It was an entire weekend of celebration which was really special and fun. The event packed weekend kinda rushed us into the week, and I cannot believe it’s already Thursday! I’m just now getting a breather.
On Friday night we went to a Mexican restaurant to spend time with Eric’s sister, hubby, and little one and my brother. The next morning we got up and cleaned the house and headed out to Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville about 3 hours from Orlando. This little sleepy beach town is one of our favorite go to spots because we enjoy the colonial feel with a quaint downtown area, New England style beaches and architecture, and the weather doesn’t quite feel like Florida (hot and muggy). It reminds us of our trip to Maine.
We kicked it around town and had dinner at one of our favorites, Cafe Karibo. As you can tell I was way excited about the Blackened Mahi topped with Crabcake and Mango Salsa. It was served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley.
Eric ordered the Sea Scallops with Mushroom Cream Sauce. Super flavorful! And we shared fried calamari and shrimp! Best ever!
And of course we had ice cream for dessert! I ordered Cappuccino Ice Cream with Dark Chocolate Bites. It was raining but we walked around town anyway.
The next day we grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then hit the beach for a 9mile run. The sand was compact and their wasn’t too many shells so it was a really great run! It was 1.5 miles to the beach and we did 6 on the beach before turning around and heading back to the hotel.
When we got home from our quick trip we turned around and headed to my brothers house to meet up with my parents and siblings for a family birthday dinner; then popped over to Eric’s sisters house to visit his mom who was in town for the night.
Busy weekend, but I felt super blessed to have time to really disconnect and relax with my family. Hope you all are having a great week! I’ll be back tomorrow with a recipe for you!
