Disclosure: My attendance to Blog Brûlée is being partially sponsored and I'm receiving a discounted registration fee for writing this blog post. I'm super pumped for the weekend, and it's staring a day early because I'm heading up to Vermont to attend Blog Brûlée with an intimate group of brilliant bloggie faves, {we've been seeing a lot of each other lately}. I agree Kylie... it's going to be like the best sleepover of all time! Blogging has become more than I could have imagined it could be. It's crazy to me that this blog has given me a platform to meet such dear friends from across the country. Friends that get me and challenge me and inspire me. I know I'm going to come back from the trip on fire and with a long list of blogging to-dos! Love it!! Oh and guess what? It's ... View Post
Fall Race Schedule + #TrainingBites {Almond Butter Cream}
Since the marathon in Vermont this spring, my ankle has been giving me fits. I honestly didn't know if I was going to make it 26.2 miles with the pain I was experiencing leading up to the race. I took a full month off of running (June) and the past two months, I've been getting back into it... well trying. The thing is, my ankle hasn't really healed. I found out it's tendonitis, and aside from massages twice a month, I haven't done my own work. So I joined a yoga studio last week. I woke up on Sunday morning, hardly movable with my back in knots. The left side of my body is revolting. I had a quick release massage to treat my back, and found that my tight hip flexers are referring pain to my back... ugh! Then I got this cool light treatment on my ankle that identified inflammation. The ... View Post
Southern Cheddar Corn Muffins
Even though the temps are pretty warm here, I'm in full-on soup mode. I've just been in the mood for a bowl of soup for lunch or a quick dinner. Soup makes my life for many reasons... it's easy to pack 'em with veggies. creates lots of leftovers that I can freeze for another week. one pot clean up. a full meal in a bowl. comfort food or light and refreshing. Every good soup needs a corn muffin or one of Jackie's popovers. I'm a fan of center-cut bacon, remember my Bacon Quinoa Chili? And because cheese makes everything yummier, I combined the two into this corn muffin... it's a southern thing, y'all. {said in my finest fake Southern accent}. ... View Post

California Almond Orchard Tour
Last week I attended a media trip with fellow foodie, fitness, and RD bloggers sponsored by the Almond Board of California. I LOVED spending time some of my foodie favorites and getting to know lots of new friends too. Everyone knows almonds are healthy, especially dipped in dark chocolate, right? Sidebar, have you ever tried the dark chocolate and sea salt covered almonds from Trader Joe's? Go get some. I'm glad that our culture has shifted from the fat-o-phobic mindset and is embracing the fact that we need to eat fat, especially good fats like nuts, salmon, tuna, olive oils, and avocados! Cheers to this leap in the right direction. I love how I feel after eating a handful of raw almonds (with some dark chocolate, of course)--- it ... View Post
