These allergies are killing me. I know living with a kitty cat is shocking my immune system, but there must be something in the air that's making my poor little nose miserable. I wake up every morning, sneezing and snotty...so volatile I must get out of bed, right then. I know, gross and not fun. It's exhausting. I've been trying to keep my body healthy and strong to fight the cat dander and it seemed to work for a while but whatever is blooming here is making it super challenging. A new-to-me ancient remedy that I've discovered is the combo of cinnamon and honey. Terrie, the best massage therapist in town, swears by it and has convinced me to give it a try. She mixes 1 tablespoon local honey, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, with a little lemon juice and drinks the concoction like a ... View Post
Ways To Hydrate Without Drinking Water
Gosh, it's so hot out and I don't know about you but I'm just thankful for the days it decides to rain so that I get some relief from the heat. I did a segment last week on Fox 35 on ways to hydrate without water and I wanted to share it with you today. So how much water should we be drinking? It totally depends on your age and activity level, but in general men need 120 ounces per day and women should get 90 ounces of total fluid. 20% of your total fluid intake can come through foods so if you're counting cups of liquid men need 12 cups and women 9 per day + any additional fluids lost through sweat. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. This is one of my favorites, especially before bed if I have a sweet tooth. It's super creamy, minimal calories, and provides a great dose of calcium ... View Post
We ran the 10 mile Clay Loop
Hey-- I miss you guys. I hate when a week goes by and I cannot get to my blog to write. I have so many things that I'd like to share so I'll just start with running today. Sunday Eric and I finally made it out to Clermont to run the 10 mile clay loop. I've heard all about this loop through the local running community but didn't know how to find it. Of course, we went after the sun was up and it was blazing this weekend. We went out with friends and had family over on Saturday night so we didn't get to bed as early as we had hoped for, but that didn't throw us off our game. ... View Post
Baked Coconut Chicken
This easy Coconut Chicken recipe is baked with coconut oil and crusted with coconut flakes. Easy weeknight meal prep for the win! Baked Coconut Chicken I’ve been really into meal prep lately. This is a new pattern for me. I’ve always resisted meal prep because I like my food FRESH. I’m not about to grill up some salmon and eat it midweek… just not my style, or so I thought. So I think I’ve found what works for me... I was noticing that I would purchase spaghetti squash, onions, mushrooms, pineapple, or whatever seasonal fruit that looks good, with the best of intentions to eat it. At the end of the week it would still be in my fridge or I’d only get through half of the produce before it spoiled. At the end of the day, the last thing I want to do is spend an ... View Post
Dark Chocolate Cherry Walnut Muffins
Disclosure: I’m partnering with the Cherry Marketing Institute for an endorsement of the 7 Day Tart Cherry Juice Challenge. This blog post is sponsored by the Cherry Marketing Institute. All opinions are my own. I woke up yesterday morning, early and bright eyed. I love when that happens. I did some reading and relaxing and felt compelled to bake. I've been dreaming of making muffins all last week but the oven drawer wasn't opening because a baking sheet was stuck. #annoying Luckily Eric was able to work some magic and dislodge the sheet so I could get my muffin tin back! I have a really yummy (and healthy) base muffin recipe that I use and mix it up with add-ins. When these babies were out of the oven, I was pretty excited. The combo of melty dark chocolate, dried tart cherries, and ... View Post
Tart Cherry Limeade {A Homemade Sports Drink}
I finished the 7-day Tart Cherry Juice Challenge and I cannot wait to tell you how it worked for me. I’m pumped that some of you all took the challenge with me. How are you feeling?? I made sure to really push myself in CrossFit this past week to put the tart cherry juice to the test. I didn’t miss a workout… check out these thrusters. Most of the exercise recovery studies have provided athletes with two 8 ounces servings of tart cherry juice, which is the equivalent of nearly 100 Montmorency cherries or 2 tablespoons tart cherry juice concentrate. So I stuck to the protocol but mixed up my sources. I typically took 2 tablespoons concentrate in the morning and 8 ounces juice in afternoon, and of course I couldn’t keep my hands out of the dried tart cherry bag—so delicious! After heavy ...
