We like to joke that my brother, DJ, is half Mexican. He insanely loves the culture, the people, the language, the food. Like cannot get enough type of love. He’s not really half Mexican but just acts like it because he speaks Spanish every opportunity he gets and eats Mexican foods every.single.day. He even named is crazy dog Loco. No lie.DJ moved to Orlando last year, so Eric and I have been spending a lot more time with him.. we’re trying to convince him to do a half marathon with us. He’s doing track and tempo runs with us but his goal is to break 20 min for the Orlando Corporate 5K. He is fast, so it pushes us. Last weekend we got together and made a delicious Mexican spread. Authentic enchiladas (coming soon), lime tortilla chips, and fresh salsa verde. DJ is known for his salsa ... View Post

Hey guys and girls. I’m tired. Do you get like that mid week? It seems to be a theme for me because by Thursday morning I’m just worn out and want to sleep in. My life right now just feels like busy season and I cannot catch up. If you know me or have read my blog long enough, you know I don’t thrive in busyness. It’s like this world and its madness is fighting against my true inner self. I’m trying to stay grounded, but I fail miserably every time and end up right were I am today. Exhausted, worn out, and lacking luster. I know myself enough that during the time of plenty is when I need to take care of myself more. To dig deeper and really cling to what I know soothes, centers and calms me— massage, epson salt baths, hot tea, yoga, running, working out, eating fresh at ... View Post
Mocha Quinoa Crunch Bar
My brother gave me Jawbone Up for Christmas this year. I'm all about these little pedometer/sleep watches and promote them to many of my clients. It has totally made me more cognizant how little I move when I have "office days" where I'm doing back to back counseling sessions. It's pretty sad, and this is even if I workout... we're talking 6000-7000 steps guys! Not good when the "average person" should be taking 10,000 steps per day. This is definitely something that I'm working on, and it has reshaped the way I think about house chores. Those little steps I take around the house add up for real. Eric and I did pretty well this week with morning workouts that we planned. I think one big motivator is that we've teamed up with my brother to do track workouts. He's running the Corproate 5K ... Coconut Quinoa Granola
So the cat allergies are getting the best of me. I’ve been waking up every morning in a sneezing fit. Of course this is before I’m ready to get up, say 4 or 5am. Eric sleeps through the whole thing, I don’t understand. We’ve been keeping our house extra clean, banning her from the bedroom, bathing her once a week and wiping her down everyday. I’ve never lived with a cat before, or a cat lover. So I’m working on doing everything I can to keep my sanity while also enjoying precious Pearl. She really is a sweetie, I’m just trying to figure out how I’m going to stay healthy through all of this. So today I’m getting an HEPA air purifier for our house. I might need a few! I’m not about to dose myself up with antihistamines or allergy shots for the rest of forever. Over the next few weeks ... View Post
Broccoli and Cheese Soup
This Broccoli and Cheese Soup is perfect on a cold day, or when you just want something soothing and warm. It uses Greek yogurt and fresh broccili and because it heats up in the blender, you'll save yourself time (and dishes)! I’m a goal setter. Creating to do lists is one of my pastimes. Eric laughs at me, but I’ve recently caught him giving it a try. I don’t know how’d I’d keep up with it all unless I had my long list of tasks and iPhone calendar. Who’s with me? To be honest, I’ve been putting off writing this post mostly because I’ve been swamped and utterly exhausted since the past week but partially because I think I might tick some people off. But oh well, it’s my blog…right? When Jan 1 rolls around the talk on everyone’s lips is “resolutions”. And the sound of it makes me ... View Post
