Fire up the grill for this BBQ Chicken Naan Pizza with Tart Cherries—it’s perfect for a summer gathering and comes together in just minutes! Big thank you to Cherry Marketing Institute for sponsoring this post.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared a pizza recipe with you all, and this one requires firing up the grill (well, you can totally bake it in the oven or on your stove top grilling pan), but grilling pizza outside is 1. more fun and 2. makes one of the BEST pizzas you’ll ever put in your mouth! Plus it’s summer time; who wants to heat up the oven?! It’s grilling season!
Grilling pizza makes the crust crispy and the cheese perfectly melty. I loved this take on BBQ Chicken Pizza because I used garlic Naan bread—hello flavor (and garlic breath, sorry not sorry). It doesn’t get better than garlic infused Naan for a pizza base.
I topped the pizza with spinach and tart cherries to boost the nutritional value and up the color. After all we eat with our eyes first; I love how adding produce brightens everything up! Not to mention the distinct tart cherry flavor—that punch of sour is amazing with oozing cheese, barbeque chicken and onions.
Not only is it grilling season, it’s tart cherry harvest season!! Aren’t these cherries just beautiful hanging from the bush? Did you know, most tart cherries that we consume are grown in Michigan, so much so that it’s considered the cherry capital of the world?! I so wish I could visit the orchards during this time of year to take it all in.
You may be wondering why you haven’t found fresh tart cherries in the supermarkets… they are a rare find because they are too delicate to ship fresh and become brown within a few days of harvesting! Tart cherries are harvested and processed within 24 hours and this locks in their nutrition too. While tart cherries are harvested in July, they are available year around in dried, juice and frozen forms. Thank goodness it’s easy to enjoy these superfruits year-round.

Fun Fact: Tart cherries are a natural source of melatonin, which research has shown may help improve the quality and duration of sleep and reduce insomnia. All the more reasons to #GoTart!
Now seriously, go get the grill started so you can enjoy a slice of this Grilled BBQ Chicken Naan Pizza with Tart Cherries too ! 🙂

I love grilling pizza! You can’t beat the combo of crunchy crust and gooey cheese! We were actually lucky to have a tart cherry tree in our backyard when we moved in. I have a lot of them in my freezer right now and am always looking for new ways to use them.
