It's time to shake up that sweet oatmeal bowl and make it savory with bacon, eggs, and avocado! This Savory Oatmeal Bowl is high protein and will keep you energized all morning long. I didn't sleep a wink last night...and it's not because the baby was awake. I feel like I made the worst mom dietitian fail EVER. My 10 month old ate honey!!! Babies under 1 are not supposed to have honey for risk of botulism because they can't tolerate the spores. #somanyrules Ugh, the fear of giving my baby honey has haunted me since starting Parker on solids. Oh, how could I let this happen? We eat honey often, it's our sweetener of choice... so I'm always extra vigilant that he doesn't get anything that I've added honey to (marinades, yogurt, smoothies, etc). Out of a deep sleep last night, I woke ... View Post

Top 10 Reader Favorite Recipes from 2015
Looking back over 2015, this has been a unique year in terms of my blog mostly because the whole year we have been baby focused. The beginning part of the year I struggled with not wanting to cook (my biggest first trimester symptom), and then with prepping for my maternity leave and baby arriving in October, it was super hard to get regularly scheduled content on the blog. Thanks for being patient with me and for continuing to read, comment, make and share my recipes this year! Through it all, it's been the most successful year to date for my blog which has allowed me to give it a bigger focus in 2016 as I'm going to be working on my nutrition business full time! I truly love this space, being creative, developing new recipes and being inspired by like minded entrepreneurs and readers ... View Post
Almond Joy Cookies
Almond Joy Cookies that taste just like the candy bar! Chewy, sweet and almondy - YUM! Eric and I spent a lovely weekend with friends in Dothan, Alabama. We grew up with Brian and Rachel and it was really neat to visit them in their new city and get some good quality time with them. It was a really active and relaxing weekend that was low key and just how we like it. On Saturday morning we went to a HIIT workout class followed up by a chilly walk on a nature trail. The scenery was beautiful, and so different from what we are familiar with in Orlando. That night afternoon Rachel and I used my basic chocolate chip cookie recipe and made Almond Joy Cookies! I have to share that we prepared these the old fashioned way, creaming the butter and sugar by hand. Yep, great ... View Post
joyful strides
Whew. 20 miles down, and it feels amazing. Savannah is just around the corner. I cannot believe we only have 5 long runs left on our training schedule which began back at the end of May. I have to say, last year I only trained up to 18 miles and this just doesn't cut it on race day..lesson learned. So this benchmark was a big one for me....the longest run I've put in since last December! Our training game plan has been altered a bit, we've missed a long run or two to say the least. But hey, it's life. I love that about marathon training. It's not going to be perfect, but you get better at it as you go. To me the most important thing is to have fun and to find true enjoyment in whatever way you choose to move.. what we do on ... View Post
Dirty Chai Latte Oatmeal
If you're a chai latte lover but like to live on the dark (errr caffeinated) side with espresso this Dirty Chai Latte Oatmeal is for you. Creamy oatmeal infused with chai tea and drowned in a shot of espresso. Breakfast of champions. This recipe is inspired my brother's wife. She introduced me to chai tea and now the dirty chai latte... It's one of her go to orders at a coffee shop especially this time of year. I've been drinking a lot more chai tea lately so I thought why not infused all those spicy, sweet and savory flavors into oatmeal. And because I know how much you love your coffee oats, I thought we would make this a dirty chai latte oatmeal. Who's in? Back in the day, I made oatmeal on the regular and it's starting to creep back into my breakfast life. Because 1) it's so easy ... View Post
