Can you believe it’s already August? I sure can’t!! While I’m so ready for cooler weather and busting out the pumpkins (I know, I know), I can’t believe that kids are already getting geared up to go back to school this month and next week for some! AND August is only two months away from October– aka Baby LaRue’s arrival. How is that possible?????
Well since good things like to happen all at once, August also marks the annual Orlando Taste of the Nation, an event where 44 of Orlando’s BEST chefs will serve little bites of their famous creations, along with fine wines, craft beers, specialty cocktails, and my favorite {the dessert bar}, all to ensure that no child grows up hungry in our city and across America.
The truth is 16 MILLION kids in America struggle with hunger, meaning 1 in 5 kids don’t get the food they need to grow and thrive.
Those stats are alarming right? It really hits home especially now when our focus shifts to getting the kids ready to go back to school, creating healthy kid friendly lunches and weeknight meals that are on the dinner table fast. These stats are sobering and the reality is not every kid gets to grow up asking “what’s for dinner tonight, mom?”, as they may be quietly wondering “am I going to get dinner tonight?” Take a look at this powerful video.
I’m very grateful to be involved with an organization like Share our Strength and the No Kid Hungry campaign who brings Taste of the Nation to Orlando. This is such a fun night and one that Eric and I look forward to each year.
Take a look at some of our favorite moments from our last TOTN experience and be sure to get tickets to this event!! See you there 🙂

This is such a great organization. I work with a lot of children who suffer from childhood hunger, and it is heartbreaking. Its great that organizations like this one are out there supporting this cause. I would love to attend this event here locally and support No Kid Hungry.

I love Taste of the Nation. My wife and I visited two years ago, but were not to attend last year because of the birth of our daughter. This is a great cause, great time, and a wonderful experience.

This is a great cause, and unfortunately I can’t support the one in my hometown because I’m traveling that weekend!
